Places and Environment Directorate – headed by Phillip Wright, is responsible for green spaces and street scene, emergency planning and “essential” services such as refuse, recycling, litter collection, public toilets, land drainage, flood defences, parks maintenance and street cleaning. This area incorporates cemeteries, play areas, bus shelter maintenance and employs Neighbourhood Wardens who oversee car parks and markets in the Borough as well as providing the dog warden service.
