Event Location
The event is based in and around West Park Leisure Centre, Wilsthorpe Road, Long Eaton. NG10 4AA. If you are travelling to the event, please ensure you arrive in plenty of time to register, prepare your equipment in the transition area and attend a race briefing, before changing to be on poolside 15 minutes before your allocated start time. We suggest that you allow at least 1 hour up on arrival.
Swimming DisciplineThe swimming discipline will be held in the 6 lane heated swimming pool inside West Park Leisure Centre. Swimmers will exit the pool area at the rear of the building and travel along the grass field and in to the transition area to prepare for the bike discipline (triathlon) or running discipline (aquathon).
Triathlon - Ages 15 years and older on 31st Dec 10 - Swim (400m);
Aquathon - Ages 8-10 years on 31st Dec 10 - Swim (50m), Ages 11-14 years on 31st Dec 10 - Swim (250m)
Transition Area (Aquathon and Triathlon)The transition area is a secure area that participants can store their equipment once they have completed the registration process in the sports hall of the leisure centre. No unathorised persons will be allowed in the transition area!
Aerial Photograph of the Transition Area Cycle Course (Triathlon only)It is participants responsibility to be safe and follow the Highway Code, instructions of the race marshals and be aware of any pedestrians, traffic or crossings that you come across whilst on the route. Failure to do so could result in disqualification from the race. It is compulsory that all participants wear an approved cycle helmet during this discipline.
With the success of our first road closure in 2009, the event organisers are seeking this again this year with a road closure on Wilsthorpe Road to allow participants a safer start to the cycle route and easier access to the leisure centre car park on the return journey. The leisure centre car park will be closed to all traffic during the event and alternative parking has been arranged for participants, volunteers and staff.
The cycle course is approximately 10 miles and reasonably flat. The course is as follows:-

1.05m Left turn off B6002 onto Longmoor Lane towards Breaston
1.75m Right turn at crossroads at Navigation Inn, Risley Lane, Breaston
2.85m Left turn onto B5010 Derby Road at Risley (near Risley Park Inn)
5.50m Left turn at Shacklecross âTâ junction, Borrowash onto A6005
9.00m Right turn at Wilsthorpe roundabout onto B6002 (take right hand lane). Note sharp right on island â slow down!
9.35m Left on roundabout off B6002 into WPLC car park.
9.50m Entering transition area
Running Course (Aquathon and Triathon)Once riders (triathlon) and swimmers (aquathon) have entered the transition area they will then progress to the final discipline - the run. This is held in West Park, a 100 acre open area.
Triathlon - Ages 15 years and older on 31st Dec 10 - Run (5Km);
Aquathon - Ages 8-10 years on 31st Dec 10 - Run (600metres), Ages 11-14 years on 31st Dec 10 - Run (2Km)
