The organisers of the Erewash Novice Triathlon and Junior Aquathon are keen to support and encourage new people to the sport of aquathon and triathlon or just being more active and taking part in the 1 mile Family Fun Run. They have generously donated their time and support to make the day more enjoyable for those taking part. Erewash Borough Council wish to sincerely thank them for their support and generosity. If you wish to learn more about each sport in the triathlon or aquathon then please feel free to contact the clubs below for advice on guidance to help you prepare for the event. One final note, please DON'T PANIC about taking part or thinking this is for superfit people. The event is meant to be enjoyed by all! Long Eaton Swimming Club

We take all ages - rising fives, to adults in their 60’s and above. Age is no bar in swimming. Many swimmers with a disability train and compete with everybody else, as well as in Disability events.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it Long Eaton Running Club caters for all ages and abilities, from the 12 minute miler to the 12 miles an hour athlete. Club nights are Tuesdays and Thursdays, meeting at 6.30p.m. for a warm up session. Usually there are different ability groups for you to join but if you are a new starter there will initially be a LERC member to look after you. And they might even buy you a drink in the bar afterwards. Both the warm-up and run activity varies from week to week (the activity/sessions are displayed on the LERC noticeboard located near the Main Hall, and on the web site forum pages).
We start with an optional 25 minutes warm-up of stretching and exercises, followed by a run at 7.00p.m. On Tuesdays this may be steady, fast, fartlek, interval or hill work according to the schedule or your preference, and on Thursdays there is usually a longer route ideal for a tempo run. Members also meet on weekends for a longer, steady run. Mileage varies from 10 Miles, with cut off points. Weekend runs are usually arranged on the club nights by the members running.
We are affiliated to UKA through the Midland Counties Athletic Association and to the Association of GB Athletic Clubs (ABAC) and presently compete in the North Midlands and East Midlands Cross-Country Leagues during the winter. All year round, members participate in a variety of different distances and types of running, including fell-running, cross country and road running, and we are affiliated to the Notts AAA Road Race League. We have flourishing Ladies, Seniors and Veterans sections of the Club. Throughout the year we also enjoy lively social events.

In between these 2 extremes is a diverse and friendly membership with a wide range of abilities and a wealth of experience in all disciplines and at all distances. The club’s regular weekly activities currently include 2 coached swim sessions, a coached run session, a cycle time trial, an informal off road run and an informal Sunday morning bike. During the summer we operate an open water swim session in the River Derwent
Other club events include a summer series of evening mini triathlons and a winter series involving mountain bike trailquests, an off-road duathlon, orienteering and a canoe triathlon. If that lot is not diverse enough for your tastes, one of our members is considering organising a mountain bike/ archery biathlon!
Annually we hold a club handicap championship and a club relay event. Teams are entered in the National Relay Championship and we are the reigning National Triathlon League champions.
Most people make contact with the club by coming along to one of our evening swim sessions - Tuesday 8.15 at Repton School or Thursday 7.00 at John Port School, Etwall. If you let me know in advance you are coming, I can arrange to have either myself or another club officer meet you and show you the ropes. We normally charge members £2.50 and non members £3.00 for a swim session, but the first one is free!
Whether you are involved in triathlon as a committed athlete, aiming to maximise your performance potential, or simply want to extend your personal horizons and keep fit in enjoyable company, you should find Derby Triathlon Club has something to offer. I look forward to hearing from you.
