The Children's Trust - Adopted Charity for 2009

The event in the past two years has attracted a number of participants to collect sponsorship for a charity of their choice. In 2008, participants collected over £6,000 for various charities and the event organisers welcome any participants that wish to raise funds for a charity in the 2009 events.

The event organisers have taken on board comments from last years participants and adopted a Charity to support for the 2009 events – The Children’s Trust. This a national charity providing a unique combination of care, therapy and education to some of the UK’s most severely disabled children. It is hoped that people entering this year decide to help The Children's Trust by collecting sponsorship money to give an added incentive.

Some of the children have been born with disabilities and some have suffered a brain injury as the result of a tragic accident or illness, like meningitis. Most cannot walk or talk, and have impaired hearing or vision or both. Many cannot swallow and require feeding by tube. Some cannot breathe independently and depend on artificial ventilation.

The care these children require comes at a cost and this is not fully met from statutory sources. They rely on volunteer fundraisers like you to play an important role in raising money and awareness for the Trust to continue caring for children and their families who so desperately need it.

If you or your team would like to raise some money for this charity you can download the Fundraising Pack from their website. It would be an ideal incentive to take part and help these children.
