Thank you for visiting the website of the Erewash Novice Triathlon 2010, Erewash Junior Aquathlon 2010 and 1 mile Family Fun Run.
The Erewash Novice Triathlon started back in 2007 and since then the event has continued to grow and generate interest from all over the Midlands and beyond. In 2009, the maximum 350 was reached well before the closing date. In 2010, entries have been increased to 400 and we hope that interest will continue and everyone that takes part has an enjoyable day and wants to continue on to do more.
In 2010, the organisers will continue to run the events over a weekend with the Junior Novice Aquathlon on Saturday 14th August 2010 along with the FREE 1 Mile Family Fun Run (Fancy Dress optional but welcomed). It is hoped that this will be a family friendly day with added attractions for all during and after the event.
The Erewash Triathlon will take place on Sunday 15th August 2010 and we have opened the event to experienced triathletes as well as novices - 400 in total. To ensure fairness, the organisers will split participants in to one of these two groups so that they are competing against competitors of the same level. The Triathlon involves three sports - Swim, Bike and Run. Entries can be from either individuals, teams (consisting of three people with each person completing all three sports) or relay teams (consisting of three people with each person only doing one sport).
This weekend is a great introduction to the multi-sport events of Aquathlon and Triathlon so if your up for something new with your family, friends or work colleagues give the event a 'Tri'. Each year we have more people returning to take part and we want participants to enjoy the experience of the day!
Thank you to all those that came along to the launch event on Sunday 18th April 2010 at West Park Leisure Centre, Wilsthorpe Road, Long Eaton. The event started with presentations from partners about the events as well as an opportunity from 11:00am to have one-to-one discussions about the events, your preparations and training opportunities with the event organisers and clubs.
The event in the past two years has attracted a number of participants to collect sponsorship for a charity of their choice. In 2009, participants collected over £11,000 for various charities and the event organisers welcome any participants that wish to take part for their chosen Charity in 2010. In addition, the event organisers have taken on board comments from previous participants and adopted a Charity to support for the 2010 events – Cerebral Palsy Sport, this is the only disability sports charity in the UK which is dedicated to encouraging children and adults with cerebral palsy to take part in sport to boost their physical and mental fitness. Participants of Triathlon and Aquathlon will be given the opportunity to support this excellent charity when entering the event.
ROAD CLOSURE: Please note that the road between West Park Leisure Centre mini roundabout and Wilsthorpe Island will be CLOSED between 7.00am - 1.00pm on Sunday 15 August 2010.
